This Honey Garlic Butter Steak and Rice Skillet is a rich, comforting one-pan meal packed with tender steak strips, fluffy rice, and a glossy sweet-savory garlic butter sauce. It’s quick, filling, and tastes like restaurant food made at home
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) steak (sirloin, ribeye, or flank), sliced into strips
- 1 cup uncooked rice (jasmine or long-grain)
- 2 cups beef broth (or water)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley or green onions for garnish
Instructions:
- Cook the rice:
In a pot, cook the rice with beef broth until soft and fluffy. Set aside. - Sear the steak:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Season steak with salt and pepper, then cook for 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside. - Make the garlic butter sauce:
In the same pan, lower heat and melt butter.
Add minced garlic and cook for about 30–60 seconds until fragrant. - Add the flavor:
Stir in honey and soy sauce. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thick and glossy. - Combine everything:
Add the cooked rice into the skillet and mix well so it absorbs the sauce.
Return the steak and toss everything together. - Finish & serve:
Cook for another 1–2 minutes so everything blends together.
Garnish with parsley or green onions and serve hot
Serving Idea:
Perfect with steamed veggies or a fried egg on top for extra flavor
