BBQ Chicken Cheesy Stromboli

This BBQ Chicken Cheesy Stromboli is packed with tender chicken, smoky BBQ sauce, and plenty of melted cheese wrapped inside golden pizza dough. Perfect for weeknight dinners, game day, or sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley or cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • Optional: ranch dressing or extra BBQ sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the shredded chicken, BBQ sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and chopped herbs. Mix until evenly coated.
  3. Roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Spread the BBQ chicken mixture down the center of the dough, leaving space around the edges.
  5. Top with mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, and sliced red onions.
  6. Fold the sides of the dough over the filling, then roll it tightly into a stromboli shape. Pinch the seams closed and place seam-side down on the baking tray.
  7. Brush the top with beaten egg and cut a few small slits on top for steam to escape.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Brush with melted butter after baking for extra flavor. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  10. Serve warm with ranch dressing or extra BBQ sauce for dipping.

  • Add crispy bacon or jalapeños for extra flavor.
  • Use rotisserie chicken to save time.
  • Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top before baking for a cheesy crust.
