 Honey Garlic Glazed Slow-Cooked Beef

A tender, glossy beef dish cooked low and slow, then finished with a sweet-savory glaze.

 Ingredients

  • 1 kg (2.2 lb) beef chuck or shank, cut into large chunks
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

 Instructions

  1. In a pot or pressure cooker, sauté the onion in olive oil until soft.
  2. Add the beef and sear lightly for a few minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix: honey, garlic, soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar (or lemon), black pepper, and ginger.
  4. Pour the mixture over the beef and cover.

Cooking options:

  • Pressure cooker (stovetop): 35–45 minutes on low heat after it comes to pressure.
  • Slow cooker (Low): 6–7 hours.
  1. When the beef is very tender, remove it and let the sauce simmer.
  2. Mix cornstarch with water, add to the sauce, and simmer until thick and glossy (glaze).
  3. Return the beef to the sauce and coat well.

 Serving

Serve with white rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
