Sausage Gravy and Biscuit Pie
Comfort food classic baked into one hearty, creamy dish!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 can refrigerated biscuits (8 pieces)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). - Cook the sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Do not drain all the fat—this adds flavor. - Make the gravy
Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir well. Cook for 1–2 minutes.
Gradually add the milk while stirring constantly to avoid lumps. - Season & thicken
Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Let the gravy simmer until thick and creamy (about 5 minutes). - Prepare the biscuits
Cut each biscuit into halves or quarters. - Assemble the pie
Pour the sausage gravy into a greased baking dish.
Arrange the biscuit pieces evenly on top. - Bake
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through. - Optional topping
Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
Tip: For extra flavor, brush the biscuits with melted butter after baking.
