Soft Homemade Skillet Flatbread
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or vegetable oil)
- 1 cup warm milk or warm water (not too hot)
- Extra flour for dusting
Instructions
1. Make the Dough
In a large bowl:
- Mix the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast
- Add the oil and warm milk/water
- Stir until a soft dough forms
2. Knead
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic
3. Let It Rise
- Lightly oil the dough and place it in a bowl
- Cover and let it rest for about 30 minutes, until slightly puffy
4. Shape
- Divide the dough into small balls
- Roll each one into a thin round flatbread
5. Cook
- Heat a skillet or pan over medium-high heat
- Cook each flatbread for 1–2 minutes until bubbles form
- Flip and cook the other side until golden and puffed
Tips
- Make sure the pan is hot before cooking
- Keep the dough soft, not dry
- Cover cooked flatbreads with a clean towel to keep them soft
