Grandma’s Zucchini Gratin – Simple & Comforting
Ingredients:
- 4 to 5 medium zucchinis, sliced into thin rounds
- 200 ml heavy cream (light or full-fat)
- 2 eggs
- 100 g grated cheese (Gruyère or Emmental)
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
- Butter or olive oil for greasing the dish
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Wash the zucchinis and slice them thinly.
- Lightly grease a baking dish with butter or olive oil.
- Arrange the zucchini slices evenly in the dish.
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the cream until smooth.
- Add the minced garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using).
- Pour the mixture over the zucchinis.
- Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly on top.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the gratin is golden and set.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Serving tip:
Perfect as a light main dish with salad or as a side for meat or fish.
