Butter Swim Biscuits

 Butter Swim Biscuits

Soft, fluffy biscuits that literally swim in butter—no rolling, no cutting, super easy and insanely good.

 Ingredients

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1¾ cups buttermilk
  • ½ cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, melted

 Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven
    Preheat to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Melt the butter
Pour the melted butter into an 8×8-inch baking dish. Set aside.
  3. Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  4. Add buttermilk
Pour in the buttermilk and stir just until combined.
The dough will be sticky and thick—that’s perfect.
  5. Add dough to butter
Spoon the dough directly into the baking dish on top of the butter.
    Spread gently to the edges.
  6. Cut before baking
Use a knife to cut the dough into 9 squares (this helps them bake evenly).
  7. Bake
Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown on top.
  8. Serve warm
Let cool slightly, then enjoy while warm

Tips

  • No buttermilk? Mix 1¾ cups milk + 1½ tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice.
  • Add shredded cheese or garlic powder for a savory version.
  • Perfect with honey, jam, or gravy
