Philly Cheesesteak Casserole (Full Recipe)

Ingredients

Meat & Veg

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or thinly sliced steak)
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced

Base & Sauce

  • 1 (8 oz / 225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1–2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Bread / Pasta / Potatoes Choose one:

  • 1 lb egg noodles, cooked
    OR
  • 1 bag cubed bread (about 8 cups)
    OR
  • 4 cups diced cooked potatoes

Cheese

  • 2 cups shredded provolone or mozzarella
  • Optional: ½ cup Parmesan or cheddar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    • 180 °C / 350 °F.
  2. Cook Meat
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or steak slices.
    • Drain excess fat.
    • Add diced pepper and onion, cook until softened (about 5 min).
    • Stir in minced garlic for 30 seconds.
  3. Make the Sauce
    • Reduce heat to low.
    • Add cream cheese cubes and let them soften.
    • Stir in milk, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
    • Season with salt & pepper.
    • Simmer gently 3–4 min until thickened.
  4. Assemble
    • In a 9×13 casserole dish, spread the cooked noodles/bread cubes/potatoes.
    • Pour the beef and sauce mixture evenly over top.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheese all over.
  5. Bake
    • Bake 20–25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
    • Optional: broil 2–3 minutes for golden top.
  6. Serve
    • Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

 Tips

Add sautéed mushrooms for extra flavo

Mix in banana peppers for a tangy kick
Use provolone + cheddar for extra cheesiness
