Tender Chicken Wrapped in Tortillas with Creamy Cheese Sauce
Ingredients
For the filling:
- 2 cups cooked chicken, diced or shredded
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
For the creamy cheese sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a mix)
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the filling
- In a bowl, mix:
- Cooked chicken
- Cream cheese
- Sour cream
- Garlic powder & onion powder
- Salt & pepper
- Stir until creamy and well combined.
2. Assemble the tortillas
- Lay out tortillas and divide the chicken mixture evenly.
- Sprinkle some shredded cheese on top.
- Roll tightly into wraps and place seam-side down in a baking dish.
3. Make the cheese sauce
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
- Cook until thickened, then add cheese and stir until melted.
- Season with paprika, salt, and pepper.
4. Bake
- Pour the cheese sauce over the rolled tortillas.
- Sprinkle extra cheese on top.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Serving Tips
- Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions
- Serve with a fresh salad or spicy sauce
