Sausage Gravy and Biscuit Pie

Comfort food classic baked into one hearty, creamy dish!

 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits (8 pieces)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)

 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven
    Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the sausage
    In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Do not drain all the fat—this adds flavor.
  3. Make the gravy
    Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir well. Cook for 1–2 minutes.
    Gradually add the milk while stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  4. Season & thicken
    Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
    Let the gravy simmer until thick and creamy (about 5 minutes).
  5. Prepare the biscuits
    Cut each biscuit into halves or quarters.
  6. Assemble the pie
    Pour the sausage gravy into a greased baking dish.
    Arrange the biscuit pieces evenly on top.
  7. Bake
    Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Optional topping
    Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.

Tip: For extra flavor, brush the biscuits with melted butter after baking.
