Crispy Keto Provolone Cheese Crisps with Everything Bagel Seasoning
If you love crunchy snacks but are following a keto or low-carb lifestyle, these crispy provolone cheese crisps are a must-try! They are incredibly simple to make, require only two ingredients, and turn into deliciously crunchy, savory bites right in the oven.
I’ve made keto cheese crisps with cheddar for years, but using thin-sliced provolone completely changed the game. Provolone melts beautifully and, when baked correctly, becomes wonderfully crisp and golden. Adding Everything Bagel Seasoning gives every bite a delicious combination of sesame seeds, garlic, onion, and savory seasoning.
The best part is that these cheese crisps are perfect when you’re craving something salty and crunchy without reaching for traditional chips or crackers.
Ingredients
- 8–12 thin slices of provolone cheese
- 1–2 tablespoons Everything Bagel Seasoning, or more to taste
- Parchment paper for lining the baking sheet
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Allow the oven to fully preheat before baking so the cheese cooks evenly and develops those crispy golden edges.
2. Prepare the Baking Sheet
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Important: Use parchment paper, NOT wax paper. They are not interchangeable. Wax paper is not designed to withstand the direct heat of the oven and can melt or smoke.
3. Arrange the Provolone
Place the thin slices of provolone cheese onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Leave about 1–2 inches of space between each slice, because the cheese will spread as it melts.
If your slices are large, you can cut them into smaller pieces before baking to make individual snack-sized crisps.
4. Add the Seasoning
Generously sprinkle the tops of the provolone slices with Everything Bagel Seasoning.
You can adjust the amount according to your taste. If you love a strong garlic-and-onion flavor, add a little extra seasoning.
5. Bake
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 8–10 minutes.
Keep an eye on the cheese during the final few minutes. The exact baking time can vary depending on the thickness of your provolone slices and your oven.
The crisps are ready when the cheese is completely melted and the edges are beautifully golden brown.
6. Let Them Cool
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the cheese crisps to cool completely.
Don’t worry if they aren’t extremely crunchy immediately after coming out of the oven. As they cool, they will firm up and become wonderfully crisp.
For extra-crispy results, allow them to cool undisturbed for several minutes before removing them from the parchment paper.
7. Enjoy!
Once completely cooled, carefully lift the crisps from the parchment paper and serve.
They are delicious on their own, but they can also be served alongside your favorite keto dips or used as a crunchy topping for salads and soups.
Helpful Tips for Perfect Cheese Crisps
Use thin cheese slices: Thinly sliced provolone works especially well because it melts quickly and can become crisp without taking too long to bake.
Don’t overcrowd the pan: Give each slice plenty of room. The cheese spreads while baking, and spacing helps prevent the crisps from sticking together.
Watch the oven closely: Cheese can brown very quickly. Start checking around the 8-minute mark.
Let them cool completely: This is one of the most important steps. The crisps continue to firm up as they cool.
Use parchment paper: Again, use parchment paper rather than wax paper. This helps prevent sticking and is appropriate for oven baking.
Serving Ideas
These crispy provolone chips make a fantastic keto snack, but there are plenty of other ways to enjoy them.
Serve them with:
- Keto ranch dip
- Cream cheese dip
- Guacamole
- Salsa
- Spinach and artichoke dip
- Low-carb buffalo chicken dip
You can also crumble them over a salad instead of using traditional croutons for a delicious cheesy crunch.
Storage
Once the crisps have cooled completely, place them in an airtight container or leave them on a plate at room temperature if your environment is dry.
One of the best things about these cheese crisps is how well they can maintain their crunch when stored properly.
If they ever soften slightly, you can place them back in a warm oven for a few minutes to help restore their crisp texture.
