 Chocolate Coconut Bars

These Chocolate Coconut Bars are rich, chewy, and incredibly easy to make. The combination of sweet coconut, creamy condensed milk, and a smooth chocolate topping makes them taste like a homemade coconut candy bar. They’re perfect for holidays, bake sales, parties, or whenever you’re craving something sweet!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 ⅔ cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 14 ounces
  • 1 ½ cups chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon butter, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, and melted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated.
  3. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to create the crust.
  4. Bake for 10–15 minutes, until the crust is lightly golden. Remove from the oven.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the shredded coconut with the sweetened condensed milk until well combined.
  6. Spread the coconut mixture evenly over the warm crust.
  7. Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes, until the coconut layer is lightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top.
  9. Let them sit for a few minutes so the chocolate melts, then gently spread the melted chocolate into an even layer.
  10. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting into squares.

 Helpful Tip

For the cleanest slices, let the bars cool completely and allow the chocolate topping to set before cutting. Store them in an airtight container.
