Creamy Homemade Rice Pudding

 Creamy Homemade Rice Pudding

A classic, cozy dessert made with simple ingredients! This creamy rice pudding is rich, lightly sweet, and flavored with vanilla and cinnamon. It’s easy to make and tastes wonderful warm or chilled.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw medium- or long-grain white rice, rinsed
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, plus more for serving, optional

Instructions

  1. Add the rinsed rice and whole milk to a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and cook uncovered for about 30–40 minutes, stirring frequently so the rice doesn’t stick or scorch.
  4. Once the rice is tender and the mixture has thickened into a creamy pudding, stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  5. Cook for another 3–5 minutes, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  6. Remove from the heat and let the pudding cool for a few minutes. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
  7. Spoon into serving bowls and sprinkle with additional cinnamon if desired.
  8. Serve warm, or refrigerate until chilled for a delicious cold rice pudding.

Tip: If the pudding becomes too thick after chilling, stir in a small splash of milk before serving.
