Cheesy Stuffed Baked Bread Pockets

Soft, fluffy, golden-brown bread pockets filled with gooey melted cheese and topped with black sesame seeds. They are perfect for breakfast, brunch, a snack, or a delicious side dish.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ½ cup warm water
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg

For the Filling:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Black pepper, to taste

For the Topping:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Black sesame seeds or nigella seeds
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until slightly foamy.
  2. Add the egg and vegetable oil, then mix well.
  3. Gradually add the flour and salt. Knead until you have a soft, smooth, and slightly elastic dough.
  4. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. In a bowl, mix the mozzarella, cheddar, cream cheese, oregano, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  6. Divide the dough into equal portions. Roll each piece into a rectangle.
  7. Place a generous amount of cheese filling in the center. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges well.
  8. Arrange the stuffed bread pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving a little space between them.
  9. Cover and let them rest for another 15–20 minutes.
  10. Mix the egg yolk with the milk and brush the tops of the bread.
  11. Sprinkle generously with black sesame seeds or nigella seeds.
  12. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 18–25 minutes, or until beautifully golden brown.
  13. Brush the hot bread with melted butter immediately after removing it from the oven.

Serving Suggestion

Serve warm while the cheese is still melted and gooey. These cheesy bread pockets are delicious with tomato sauce, marinara sauce, garlic sauce, or a fresh salad.
