Air Fryer Crispy Crab Rangoon
Golden, crispy, and packed with a rich, creamy filling, these Air Fryer Crab Rangoon are a delicious appetizer that’s easy to make at home. The air fryer creates perfectly crunchy wontons with much less oil than deep frying, making them a lighter option without sacrificing flavor.
Ingredients
- 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup imitation crab meat or cooked lump crab meat, finely chopped
- 2 green onions, finely sliced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 24 wonton wrappers
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
- Cooking oil spray
Optional Dipping Sauce
- ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- ½ teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Lay a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center.
- Brush the edges with the beaten egg. Fold the wrapper into your preferred shape, pressing the edges tightly to seal.
- Lightly spray both sides of each rangoon with cooking oil.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
- Arrange the rangoon in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
- Air fry for 7–9 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Cook in batches if needed.
- Let them cool for 2–3 minutes before serving, as the filling will be very hot.
Dipping Sauce
Mix the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a small bowl until well combined. Serve alongside the hot crab rangoon.
Tips
- Don’t overfill the wrappers, or they may burst during cooking.
- Keep unused wonton wrappers covered with a damp towel to prevent them from drying out.
- Make sure all edges are tightly sealed to keep the filling from leaking.
- For extra crispiness, lightly spray the rangoon with oil before air frying.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3–4 minutes until crispy again.
