Air Fryer Crispy Crab Rangoon

Air Fryer Crispy Crab Rangoon

Golden, crispy, and packed with a rich, creamy filling, these Air Fryer Crab Rangoon are a delicious appetizer that’s easy to make at home. The air fryer creates perfectly crunchy wontons with much less oil than deep frying, making them a lighter option without sacrificing flavor.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup imitation crab meat or cooked lump crab meat, finely chopped
  • 2 green onions, finely sliced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
  • Cooking oil spray

Optional Dipping Sauce

  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  2. Lay a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center.
  3. Brush the edges with the beaten egg. Fold the wrapper into your preferred shape, pressing the edges tightly to seal.
  4. Lightly spray both sides of each rangoon with cooking oil.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
  6. Arrange the rangoon in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
  7. Air fry for 7–9 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Cook in batches if needed.
  8. Let them cool for 2–3 minutes before serving, as the filling will be very hot.

Dipping Sauce

Mix the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a small bowl until well combined. Serve alongside the hot crab rangoon.

Tips

  • Don’t overfill the wrappers, or they may burst during cooking.
  • Keep unused wonton wrappers covered with a damp towel to prevent them from drying out.
  • Make sure all edges are tightly sealed to keep the filling from leaking.
  • For extra crispiness, lightly spray the rangoon with oil before air frying.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3–4 minutes until crispy again.
