Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box strawberry cake mix
  • 1 (3.4-ounce) box vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Strawberry Glaze

  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons strawberry puree or milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or a Bundt pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the strawberry cake mix, vanilla pudding mix, eggs, vegetable oil, buttermilk, water, and vanilla extract.
  3. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes, until the batter is smooth and well blended.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake for 35–45 minutes, depending on the pan used, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. If making the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, strawberry puree (or milk), and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled cake.
  8. Garnish with fresh strawberries and serve.
