Homemade Salsa Picante
A fresh, vibrant salsa with the perfect balance of tomatoes, peppers, garlic, and cilantro. Great for tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, grilled meats, or as a flavorful topping for your favorite Mexican dishes.
Ingredients
- 5 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 jalapeños, seeded and chopped (adjust for desired heat level)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for a smoother texture)
Instructions
- Add the tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, garlic, and cilantro to a food processor or blender.
- Add the lime juice, salt, cumin (if using), and olive oil.
- Pulse until the salsa reaches your desired consistency. For a chunkier salsa, pulse only a few times. For a smoother salsa, blend longer.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt, lime juice, or jalapeño if needed.
- Transfer to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
- Serve chilled with tortilla chips, tacos, nachos, burritos, grilled chicken, steak, or fish.
Storage
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Stir before serving, as some liquid may separate.
