Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning)
  • ⅔ cup water
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
  4. Unroll one can of crescent dough and press it into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish, sealing perforations.
  5. Spread the seasoned beef evenly over the crust.
  6. Mix the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses together and sprinkle about three-quarters over the beef.
  7. Unroll the second can of crescent dough and place it over the cheese layer, pinching edges to seal.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  10. Top with the remaining cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, black olives, and green onions.
  11. Slice and serve warm.

Tips

  • Add diced jalapeños for extra heat.
  • Swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken.
  • Serve with salsa, guacamole, or extra sour cream.
