Dirty Rice with Ground Beef
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
Directions
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess grease if needed.
- Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper. Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the beef bouillon granules, salt, seasoned salt, and black pepper.
- Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- Add the uncooked rice and stir well to combine.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
- Remove from the heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and serve warm.
Tips
- For extra flavor, add 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 2 minced garlic cloves.
- A pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce can add some heat.
- Garnish with sliced green onions or fresh parsley before serving.
