Dirty Rice with Ground Beef

Dirty Rice with Ground Beef

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice

Directions

  1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess grease if needed.
  2. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper. Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in the beef bouillon granules, salt, seasoned salt, and black pepper.
  4. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  5. Add the uncooked rice and stir well to combine.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
  7. Remove from the heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
  8. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve warm.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, add 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 2 minced garlic cloves.
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce can add some heat.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions or fresh parsley before serving.
