Stuffed Chicken Buns
Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp instant yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
For the Chicken Filling:
- 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp hot sauce or chili sauce
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp oil
Optional:
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Sesame seeds for topping
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm milk, warm water, oil, and egg.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until soft and smooth.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Make the Filling
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Cook onion and bell pepper until soft.
- Add garlic and shredded chicken.
- Stir in ketchup, mayonnaise, hot sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes, then let cool slightly.
3. Shape the Buns
- Divide dough into equal balls.
- Flatten each ball and add chicken filling in the center.
- Add cheese if using.
- Seal tightly and place seam-side down on a baking tray.
4. Bake
- Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
