Ingredients

  • 6–8 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (or drumsticks)
  • 1 packet onion soup mix OR ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup brown sugar OR fruit preserves (apricot or peach work great)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the chicken
    Arrange chicken pieces in a baking dish in a single layer, skin-side up for crispiness.
  3. Add the flavor base
    • Option 1 (savory-sweet):
      Sprinkle onion soup mix evenly over the chicken, then top with brown sugar.
    • Option 2 (sweet & sticky):
      Pour soy sauce over the chicken, then add brown sugar or fruit preserves on top.
  4. Bake uncovered for 45–60 minutes, until:
    • Chicken is fully cooked (juices run clear)
    • Sauce is bubbling and caramelized
  5. Finish & serve
    Spoon the sticky sauce over the chicken before serving.
