Delish Chocolate Cake (Moist & Rich)
Ingredients
For the cake:
- 1 and 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups (400g) sugar
- 1 and 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 and 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup (240ml) milk (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) hot coffee or hot water (coffee makes it richer!)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla.
Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth. - Slowly add the hot coffee (or water).
The batter will be thin — that’s perfect! - Pour evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Optional Chocolate Frosting
- 1/2 cup butter (softened)
- 2/3 cup cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Beat everything together until creamy and fluffy, then spread between layers and on top.
Tips for the best cake:
- Don’t skip the hot coffee — it boosts chocolate flavor without tasting like coffee.
- Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
- For extra richness, add chocolate chips to the batter.
