 Creamy Pea Salad with Bacon

 Time

  • Prep: 10 minutes
  • Total: ~15 minutes

 Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen peas (thawed)
  • 4–8 slices bacon (cooked & crumbled)
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese (cubed or shredded)
  • ⅓–½ cup red onion (finely chopped)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream (or yogurt for lighter version)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Salt & black pepper (to taste)

Many versions also add celery for crunch or parsley for freshness

 Instructions

  1. Cook bacon until crispy, then crumble and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine:
    • peas
    • cheese
    • red onion
    • bacon
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together:
    • mayonnaise
    • sour cream (or yogurt)
    • vinegar
    • sugar
    • salt & pepper
  4. Pour dressing over the salad and mix well.
  5. Chill for 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.

 Tips

  • Use frozen peas (thawed, not cooked) for best texture.
  • Add-ins: diced celery, boiled eggs, or even ranch seasoning.
  • Tastes better after chilling—it lets flavors blend perfectly.

 What it tastes like

Creamy, slightly sweet, salty from bacon, with a nice crunch from onions—this combo is what makes it a classic favorite side
