 KFC Air Fryer Chicken Legs

 Ingredients

  • 2–6 chicken legs (drumsticks)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Cooking spray (or oil spray)

Instructions

1. Marinate the chicken

  • Put chicken legs in a bowl
  • Pour buttermilk over them
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best flavor)

2. Prepare the coating

  • In another bowl, mix:
    • flour
    • paprika
    • garlic powder
    • onion powder
    • thyme, basil, oregano
    • salt & pepper

3. Coat the chicken

  • Remove chicken from buttermilk
  • Let excess drip off
  • Coat well in the flour mixture
  • Press coating so it sticks nicely

4. Air fry

  • Preheat air fryer to 190°C (375°F)
  • Spray basket with oil
  • Place chicken in a single layer (don’t overlap)

5. Cook

  • Air fry for 20–25 minutes
  • Flip halfway through
  • Cook until golden and fully done (internal temp 75°C / 165°F)

6. Serve

  • Let rest for a few minutes
  • Serve hot with your favorite sauce

Tips for extra crispy KFC style

  • Spray chicken lightly with oil before cooking
  • Add a bit of cornstarch to flour for more crunch
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer
