Perfect Fluffy Rice Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice (basmati or long-grain preferred)
- 1½ to 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon oil or butter (optional)
Instructions
1. Rinse the rice
- Place the rice in a bowl with water
- Wash it 2–3 times until the water becomes clear
This removes excess starch and prevents sticky rice
2. Boil the water
- In a pot, add water, salt, and oil
- Bring it to a boil
3. Cook the rice
- Add the rice to the boiling water
- Reduce heat to low
- Cover the pot and cook for 15–18 minutes
Do not stir while cooking
4. Let it rest
- Turn off the heat
- Let the rice sit covered for 5–10 minutes
This helps make it light and fluffy
5. Serve
- Fluff the rice gently with a fork
- Serve with chicken, meat, or vegetables
Tips for perfect rice
- Too much water = mushy rice
- Don’t keep opening the lid
- Proper rinsing = better texture
