Cheese Potato Bread — Pan‑Fried & Crispy
Ingredients
- 2 medium potatoes (about 300g), peeled
- 1 cup all‑purpose flour (about 130g)
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp salt (to taste)
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½–1 cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
- 1–2 tbsp butter or oil (for frying)
- Optional:
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- Fresh herbs (parsley, chives)
- ½ tsp garlic powder or paprika
Step‑By‑Step Instructions
1. Prepare the Potatoes
- Grate the peeled potatoes into a bowl.
- Wrap the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much liquid as possible — this keeps the bread crispy.
2. Make the Batter
In a large bowl, combine:
- Squeezed grated potatoes
- Flour
- Egg
- Salt & pepper
- Optional seasonings (garlic powder, herbs, onion)
Mix until it forms a sticky batter.
3. Add Cheese
Fold in your grated cheese — mix well so the cheese distributes evenly.
4. Heat the Pan
Heat a non‑stick skillet over medium heat and add butter or oil.
5. Cook the Potato Bread
- Scoop a generous spoonful of the mixture into the hot pan and flatten it lightly into a round (about ½–1 cm thick).
- Cook 3–4 minutes until the bottom is golden.
- Carefully flip and cook another 3–4 minutes until crisp and cooked through.
- Repeat with remaining batter.
