Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese

 Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese

 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & black pepper (to taste)
  • 8 slices Texas toast (or thick white bread)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or American cheese slices)
  • 4 tbsp butter (softened)

 Instructions:

1. Cook the Sloppy Joe filling:

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
  • Drain excess grease if needed.
  • Add diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  • Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

2. Make the sauce:

  • Add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thick and saucy.
  • Remove from heat.

3. Assemble the sandwiches:

  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place one slice (butter side down) on a skillet.
  • Add a layer of cheese, then a scoop of the Sloppy Joe mixture, then more cheese.
  • Top with another slice of bread (butter side up).

4. Grill:

  • Cook over medium-low heat for 3–4 minutes per side.
  • Press gently and flip carefully until bread is golden and crispy, and cheese is melted.

 Tips:

  • Use low heat so the bread doesn’t burn before the cheese melts.
  • Add pickles inside for extra flavor
  • Try mozzarella + cheddar mix for extra stretchiness

Enjoy your crispy, cheesy, saucy sandwich
If you want, I can give you a spicy version or oven-baked version too!
