Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes
Ingredients
- 2 ribeye steaks (or sirloin)
- 4 medium potatoes, diced (baby potatoes work best)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or rosemary)
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the potatoes
- Wash and dice potatoes into small cubes.
- Boil them in salted water for about 8–10 minutes (just until slightly tender).
- Drain and set aside.
- Season the steak
- Pat steaks dry.
- Season both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Cook the potatoes
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add potatoes and cook for 8–10 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Add half of the garlic and a little butter, stir, then remove and set aside.
- Cook the steak
- In the same pan, add remaining olive oil and sear the steak for:
- 3–4 minutes per side (medium-rare)
- Adjust time depending on thickness
- Add butter, remaining garlic, and thyme.
- In the same pan, add remaining olive oil and sear the steak for:
- Garlic butter finish
- Spoon the melted garlic butter over the steak continuously for 1–2 minutes.
- Combine & serve
- Return potatoes to the pan briefly to coat in the garlic butter.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
Tips
- Let steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing (keeps it juicy).
- Use cast iron pan for best flavor.
- Add chili flakes if you like a little heat
