No-Bake Chocolate Biscuit Layered Dessert
A rich, creamy, no-oven dessert made with chocolate custard and soft biscuit layers. Easy, budget-friendly, and perfect for making ahead.
Ingredients
Chocolate Cream (Custard)
- 1 liter milk
- 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 tablespoons cornstarch
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 200 g dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Layers
- Petit Beurre or Maria biscuits (tea biscuits)
- A small bowl of milk for dipping the biscuits
Topping (optional)
Cocoa powder
- Chocolate shavings or chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the milk, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and sugar. Blend until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens into a custard.
- Remove from heat. Add the dark chocolate, butter, and vanilla. Stir until fully melted and smooth. The cream should be thick and glossy.
- Assemble the dessert in a glass dish:
- Quickly dip each biscuit in milk (do not soak).
- Arrange a layer of biscuits in the dish.
- Spread a layer of chocolate cream over the biscuits.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with chocolate cream on top.
- Dust with cocoa powder and decorate with chocolate shavings or chips.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours (overnight is even better) until fully set.
Tips for Best Results
- Dip biscuits very quickly to prevent sogginess.
- The thicker the cream, the better the layers will hold.
- This dessert tastes even better the next day.
