Easy Hamburger Potato Casserole
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: garlic powder or paprika for extra flavor
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
- Lightly grease a baking dish. Start layering:
- Add a layer of thinly sliced potatoes
- Add a layer of cooked beef mixture
- Pour some of the soup mixture over the top
- Sprinkle a layer of shredded cheese
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Tips:
- Slice the potatoes very thin so they cook evenly.
- You can add vegetables like carrots or peas for extra texture.
- For a crispier top, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
