Easy Hamburger Potato Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder or paprika for extra flavor

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
  4. Lightly grease a baking dish. Start layering:
    • Add a layer of thinly sliced potatoes
    • Add a layer of cooked beef mixture
    • Pour some of the soup mixture over the top
    • Sprinkle a layer of shredded cheese
  5. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  8. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • Slice the potatoes very thin so they cook evenly.
  • You can add vegetables like carrots or peas for extra texture.
  • For a crispier top, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
