Homemade Salsa Picante

Homemade Salsa Picante

A fresh, vibrant salsa with the perfect balance of tomatoes, peppers, garlic, and cilantro. Great for tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, grilled meats, or as a flavorful topping for your favorite Mexican dishes.

Ingredients

  • 5 ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 jalapeños, seeded and chopped (adjust for desired heat level)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for a smoother texture)

Instructions

  1. Add the tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, garlic, and cilantro to a food processor or blender.
  2. Add the lime juice, salt, cumin (if using), and olive oil.
  3. Pulse until the salsa reaches your desired consistency. For a chunkier salsa, pulse only a few times. For a smoother salsa, blend longer.
  4. Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt, lime juice, or jalapeño if needed.
  5. Transfer to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
  6. Serve chilled with tortilla chips, tacos, nachos, burritos, grilled chicken, steak, or fish.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Stir before serving, as some liquid may separate.
