Italian Sausage with Peppers and Onions

Ingredients
- 4 Italian sausages (mild or spicy)
- 2 bell peppers (red, green, or yellow), sliced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- ½ cup marinara sauce or crushed tomatoes (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sausages and cook for about 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil, sliced peppers, and onions. Cook for 8–10 minutes until soft and slightly caramelized.
- Stir in the garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add marinara sauce if using, then return the sausages to the skillet.
- Simmer together for 5 minutes so the flavors blend perfectly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot!
