Grandma’s Farmhouse Green Bean & Beef Casserole (4 Ingredients Only)
This is a simple old-fashioned farmhouse-style dish that tastes like home. It’s creamy, comforting, and made with just a few basic ingredients, but the flavor is rich and satisfying.
Ingredients:
- 500 g ground beef (or finely chopped beef)
- 300–400 g green beans (fresh or frozen, cut)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or any good melting cheese)
Instructions:
1. Cook the beef
In a large pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it is fully browned. Break it apart as it cooks so it becomes soft and crumbly.
If there is too much fat, carefully drain the excess to keep the dish light and not greasy.
2. Prepare the green beans
Boil the green beans in salted water for a few minutes until they become tender but still slightly firm.
Do not overcook them—you want them to keep a little bite so they don’t turn mushy later.
Drain well and set aside.
3. Mix everything together
In a large bowl, combine:
- the cooked beef
- the green beans
- the cream of mushroom soup
Stir everything well until all the ingredients are evenly coated with the creamy sauce. This is what gives the dish its rich, homemade flavor.
4. Bake it
Pour the mixture into a baking dish and spread it evenly.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously on top.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 20–25 minutes, or until:
- the cheese is melted
- the top is slightly golden
- and everything is bubbling and hot
Final result:
You get a warm, creamy casserole with tender green beans, savory beef, and melted cheese on top. It’s simple, rustic, and tastes like something a grandmother would serve straight from the oven on a cozy day.
