Old-Fashioned Fudge Don’t Lose This!
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons Hershey’s cocoa
- 1 stick salted butter (½ cup)
- 1 (5 oz) can Carnation evaporated milk
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions:
- Prepare your pan
Lightly butter or line an 8×8 inch pan with parchment paper so the fudge comes out easily later. - Cook the base mixture
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine:- cocoa
- sugar
- evaporated milk
- butter
- pinch of salt
Stir constantly so it doesn’t burn.
- Bring to a boil
Once it starts bubbling, keep stirring and let it boil for about 4–5 minutes.
(It should look smooth, thick, and glossy.) - Remove from heat
Take the pan off the stove and quickly stir in:- vanilla extract
- nuts (if using)
- Pour and set
Immediately pour into your prepared pan. Spread evenly. - Cool completely
Let it sit at room temperature until firm (about 2–4 hours), or refrigerate to speed it up. - Cut & enjoy
Slice into small squares—this fudge is rich and sweet!
