Old-Fashioned Fudge

 Old-Fashioned Fudge Don’t Lose This!

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons Hershey’s cocoa
  • 1 stick salted butter (½ cup)
  • 1 (5 oz) can Carnation evaporated milk
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare your pan
Lightly butter or line an 8×8 inch pan with parchment paper so the fudge comes out easily later.
  2. Cook the base mixture
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine:

    • cocoa
    • sugar
    • evaporated milk
    • butter
    • pinch of salt

Stir constantly so it doesn’t burn.

  3. Bring to a boil
Once it starts bubbling, keep stirring and let it boil for about 4–5 minutes.
(It should look smooth, thick, and glossy.)
  4. Remove from heat
Take the pan off the stove and quickly stir in:

    • vanilla extract
    • nuts (if using)
  5. Pour and set
Immediately pour into your prepared pan. Spread evenly.
  6. Cool completely
Let it sit at room temperature until firm (about 2–4 hours), or refrigerate to speed it up.
  7. Cut & enjoy
Slice into small squares—this fudge is rich and sweet!
