4-Ingredient Beef Stew

 Ingredients

  • 500–700 g beef stew meat (chuck or any cut suitable for slow cooking)
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth

(Optional: salt, pepper, garlic powder, or herbs for extra flavor)

 Instructions

  1. Prep the ingredients
    Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces if not already done. Chop the potatoes and carrots.
  2. Layer everything
    Add the beef, potatoes, and carrots into a large pot, Dutch oven, or slow cooker.
  3. Pour the broth
    Add the beef broth over everything. Season lightly if desired.
  4. Cook low and slow
    • Stovetop: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5–2 hours
    • Slow cooker: Cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours
    • Oven: Cover and bake at 160°C for about 2–2.5 hours
  5. Check & serve
    The beef should be tender and the vegetables soft. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.

Tips & Variations

  • Want richer flavor? Brown the beef first in a little oil before adding the broth.
  • Add onions or garlic if you don’t mind going beyond 4 ingredients.
  • A splash of soy sauce or tomato paste can deepen the flavor nicely.
  • If you like a thicker stew, mash a few potato pieces into the broth.
