KFC Air Fryer Chicken Legs
Ingredients
- 2–6 chicken legs (drumsticks)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Cooking spray (or oil spray)
Instructions
1. Marinate the chicken
- Put chicken legs in a bowl
- Pour buttermilk over them
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best flavor)
2. Prepare the coating
- In another bowl, mix:
- flour
- paprika
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- thyme, basil, oregano
- salt & pepper
3. Coat the chicken
- Remove chicken from buttermilk
- Let excess drip off
- Coat well in the flour mixture
- Press coating so it sticks nicely
4. Air fry
- Preheat air fryer to 190°C (375°F)
- Spray basket with oil
- Place chicken in a single layer (don’t overlap)
5. Cook
- Air fry for 20–25 minutes
- Flip halfway through
- Cook until golden and fully done (internal temp 75°C / 165°F)
6. Serve
- Let rest for a few minutes
- Serve hot with your favorite sauce
Tips for extra crispy KFC style
- Spray chicken lightly with oil before cooking
- Add a bit of cornstarch to flour for more crunch
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer
