Easy Hamburger Potato Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt & black pepper (to taste)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven
- Set to 180°C (350°F)
- Grease a baking dish
2. Cook the beef
- In a pan, cook ground beef + onion
- Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder
- Cook until browned, then drain excess fat
3. Prepare sauce
- In a bowl, mix:
- cream of mushroom soup
- milk
- paprika
4. Layer the casserole
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes
- Add half of the beef mixture
- Pour some sauce
- Repeat layers
5. Bake
- Cover with foil
- Bake 45–50 minutes (until potatoes are tender)
6. Add cheese
- Remove foil
- Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top
- Bake another 10–15 minutes until melted and bubbly
Tips
- Slice potatoes very thin so they cook faster
- Add a little mozzarella for extra stretch
- You can add veggies like carrots or peas
