Slow-Cooker Seasoned Pork Chops

Ingredients

  • 4 thick pork chops (boneless or bone-in)
  • 1 packet onion soup mix (about 1 oz / 28 g)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp salt (optional, soup mix is salty)
  • ½ cup water or chicken broth

Optional add-ins (for extra flavor)

  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • ½ cup cream of mushroom soup (for a creamy sauce)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for searing, optional)

Instructions

  1. Optional sear (adds flavor):
    Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sear pork chops 1–2 minutes per side until lightly browned.
  2. Layer in slow cooker:
    Place pork chops in the slow cooker in a single layer.
  3. Season:
    Sprinkle onion soup mix, black pepper, garlic powder, and salt over the chops.
  4. Add liquid:
    Pour in the water or chicken broth around the chops.
  5. Add extras (optional):
    Top with sliced onion, garlic, mushrooms, paprika, or cream of mushroom soup.
  6. Cook:
    • LOW: 6–7 hours
    • HIGH: 3–4 hours
      Pork chops should be tender and fully cooked.
  7. Serve:
    Serve hot with the cooking juices as a sauce.

Tips

  • Use thick-cut pork chops for juicier results.
  • Don’t overcrowd the slow cooker.
