 Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter Cake

 Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk

For the Butter Sauce:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Salted Caramel Glaze:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)

 Instructions

1. Make the Cake

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C)
  • Grease and flour a Bundt pan
  • Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl
  • In another bowl, beat butter + sugar until fluffy
  • Add eggs one at a time
  • Mix in vanilla
  • Add dry ingredients + buttermilk alternately
  • Pour batter into the pan

Bake for 55–65 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean

2. Make the Butter Sauice

  • In a saucepan, combine butter, sugar, water
  • Heat until butter melts and sugar dissolves
  • Remove from heat and add vanilla

Once cake is out of oven, poke holes and pour sauce over it while warm

3. Make Salted Caramel Glaze

  • Melt sugar in a pan until golden
  • Add butter and stir
  • Slowly add cream (careful, it bubbles)
  • Add vanilla + salt
  • Let it cool slightly

4. Finish the Cake

  • Let cake cool, then remove from pan
  • Drizzle salted caramel glaze on top

 Tips

  • Don’t skip poking holes → it makes the cake super moist
  • Use buttermilk for soft texture
  • Add extra salt if you like stronger salted caramel flavor

Serving

  • Serve with coffee
  • Add vanilla ice cream
  • Perfect for special occasions
