Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cups
Ingredients
For the cake base:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- A pinch of salt
For the filling:
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk (optional, for extra creaminess)
For the chocolate topping (ganache):
- 1 cup chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease small ramekins or a muffin tin. - Make the batter:
- In a bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until smooth
- Add the egg and vanilla, and mix well
- Add flour, baking powder, and salt
- Pour in the milk and mix until you get a smooth batter
- Assemble the cups:
- Pour a layer of batter into each mold
- Add a spoonful of peanut butter (and condensed milk if using) in the center
- Cover with more batter
- Bake:
Bake for 12–15 minutes.
Do not overbake if you want a soft, gooey center. - Make the ganache:
- Melt the chocolate with the heavy cream
- Stir until smooth and glossy
- Serve:
Pour the chocolate ganache over the warm cups and serve immediately.
Tips
- For an extra molten center, slightly underbake the cakes
- You can add chocolate chunks inside for more richness
- Best served warm for that gooey “lava” effect
