Cheese Potato Bread — Pan‑Fried & Crispy

Ingredients

  • 2 medium potatoes (about 300g), peeled
  • 1 cup all‑purpose flour (about 130g)
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp salt (to taste)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½–1 cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
  • 1–2 tbsp butter or oil (for frying)
  • Optional:
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • Fresh herbs (parsley, chives)
    • ½ tsp garlic powder or paprika

Step‑By‑Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Potatoes

  1. Grate the peeled potatoes into a bowl.
  2. Wrap the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much liquid as possible — this keeps the bread crispy.

2. Make the Batter

In a large bowl, combine:

  • Squeezed grated potatoes
  • Flour
  • Egg
  • Salt & pepper
  • Optional seasonings (garlic powder, herbs, onion)

Mix until it forms a sticky batter.

3. Add Cheese

Fold in your grated cheese — mix well so the cheese distributes evenly.

4. Heat the Pan

Heat a non‑stick skillet over medium heat and add butter or oil.

5. Cook the Potato Bread

  1. Scoop a generous spoonful of the mixture into the hot pan and flatten it lightly into a round (about ½–1 cm thick).
  2. Cook 3–4 minutes until the bottom is golden.
  3. Carefully flip and cook another 3–4 minutes until crisp and cooked through.
  4. Repeat with remaining batter.
