Caramel Apple Puff Pastry

 Caramel Apple Puff Pastry

 Ingredients:

  • 3 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional but recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (for sprinkling)

 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the caramel apple filling
In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
Add the sliced apples and cook for 5–7 minutes until slightly softened.
Stir in brown sugar (and cinnamon + vanilla if using).
Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the apples are coated and slightly caramelized.
Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Prepare the puff pastry
Roll out the puff pastry slightly on a floured surface.
Cut into squares or rectangles (depending on your preferred size).
  4. Assemble
Spoon a portion of the apple mixture into the center of each piece.
Fold or shape as desired (turnovers, pockets, or open tarts).
Seal edges with a fork if making turnovers.
  5. Egg wash & sugar
Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle a little sugar for extra crispness.
  6. Bake
Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Cool & serve
Let cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm!

 Optional Add-Ons:

  • Drizzle with caramel sauce after baking
  • Add chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream for a dessert-style treat
