Butter Swim Biscuits
Soft, fluffy biscuits that literally swim in butter—no rolling, no cutting, super easy and insanely good.
Ingredients
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1¾ cups buttermilk
- ½ cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven
Preheat to 450°F (230°C). - Melt the butter
Pour the melted butter into an 8×8-inch baking dish. Set aside. - Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. - Add buttermilk
Pour in the buttermilk and stir just until combined.
The dough will be sticky and thick—that’s perfect. - Add dough to butter
Spoon the dough directly into the baking dish on top of the butter.
Spread gently to the edges. - Cut before baking
Use a knife to cut the dough into 9 squares (this helps them bake evenly). - Bake
Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown on top. - Serve warm
Let cool slightly, then enjoy while warm
Tips
- No buttermilk? Mix 1¾ cups milk + 1½ tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice.
- Add shredded cheese or garlic powder for a savory version.
- Perfect with honey, jam, or gravy
