Crock Pot Brown Sugar Cinnamon Sweet Potatoes

These Crock Pot Brown Sugar Cinnamon Sweet Potatoes are tender, buttery, and coated in a sweet cinnamon-brown sugar glaze. Topped with gooey mini marshmallows and crunchy pecans, this easy slow cooker side dish is perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any cozy family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tbsp butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into evenly sized 1-inch cubes.
  2. Season: Place the sweet potatoes in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Toss until evenly coated.
  3. Add to the Slow Cooker: Lightly grease the inside of your Crock Pot. Transfer the seasoned sweet potatoes into the slow cooker and spread them evenly.
  4. Add Brown Sugar: Sprinkle the brown sugar over the sweet potatoes. Add small pieces of butter, if desired, for extra richness.
  5. Slow Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours, until the sweet potatoes are fork-tender. Stir gently halfway through cooking if possible.
  6. Add the Toppings: During the last 15–20 minutes of cooking, sprinkle the mini marshmallows and chopped pecans over the sweet potatoes. Cover and continue cooking until the marshmallows soften.
  7. Serve: Gently stir if desired, or serve with the marshmallows and pecans on top. Spoon some of the sweet brown sugar glaze over the potatoes before serving.

Tips for the Best Sweet Potatoes

  • Cut the sweet potatoes into similar-sized cubes to ensure even cooking.
  • For extra flavor, lightly toast the pecans before adding them.
  • Keep an eye on the marshmallows so they soften without becoming overly melted.
  • If the sweet potatoes release too much liquid, remove the lid during the final 15–20 minutes to help some moisture evaporate.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these sweet potatoes alongside roasted turkey, baked ham, roasted chicken, or your favorite holiday main dish. They’re also delicious as a sweet addition to a fall family dinner.
