The Best Homemade Cookies
These cookies are soft and chewy in the center, perfectly golden around the edges, and packed with delicious chocolate chips. They’re incredibly easy to make and so good that your family might just call them the best cookies they’ve ever had!
Ingredients
- 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup (165 g) brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups (315 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and creamy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop the dough into rounded tablespoons and place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
- Bake for 9–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers still look slightly soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips
- Don’t overbake the cookies—the centers should look slightly underdone when they come out of the oven.
- For extra flavor, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
- Add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top for a sweet-and-salty finish.
- Store cooled cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
