Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet
Ingredients
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- Salt and cracked black pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp paprika
Aromatics
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced and caramelized, optional
Butter Sauce
- 4 tbsp butter, divided
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- ½ tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
For Garnish
- Shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese, optional
- Fresh parsley, optional
Instructions
- Season the chicken: Pat the chicken dry and season both sides with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Sear the chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for about 5–7 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.
- Cook the aromatics: Add another tablespoon of butter to the same skillet. Add the minced garlic and caramelized onions, if using. Sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Make the sauce: Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Stir in the honey, paprika, dried parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Add the butter: Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Stir until melted and the sauce becomes rich and glossy.
- Return the chicken: Place the chicken back into the skillet and spoon the buttery sauce over the top. Simmer for 3–5 minutes so the chicken absorbs all those delicious flavors.
- Add cheese: If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack over the chicken. Cover the skillet for 1–2 minutes until the cheese melts.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and spoon plenty of the honey-butter sauce over each piece of chicken.
Tip: Serve this buttery chicken with mashed potatoes, roasted baby potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables to soak up that amazing sauce.
