Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Garlic Chicken

Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Garlic Chicken

Ingredients

  • 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme.
  3. Rub the chicken thighs with olive oil, then generously coat them with the seasoning mixture. Make sure both sides are well covered.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken thighs in the slow cooker in a single layer as much as possible.
  5. Sprinkle any remaining brown sugar seasoning over the chicken.
  6. Add the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and chicken broth around the chicken.
  7. Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 2½–3½ hours, until the chicken is completely cooked and tender.
  8. For a caramelized finish, transfer the cooked chicken to a baking sheet and place it under the broiler for 2–4 minutes, watching carefully so the brown sugar doesn’t burn.
  9. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestions

Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, rice, cornbread, or a fresh green salad. Spoon some of the sweet and savory juices from the slow cooker over the chicken before serving.

Tip: Chicken thighs are especially good for this recipe because they stay juicy during slow cooking, while the brown sugar creates a delicious sweet, caramelized coating.
