Seared Steak and Broccoli
Tender strips of juicy ribeye steak are quickly seared and tossed with crisp broccoli in a rich, savory garlic sauce. This easy one-pan dinner is perfect for busy weeknights and is ready in about 30 minutes!
Ingredients
- 450 g (1 lb) ribeye steak, sliced into thin strips
- 2 cups (about 150 g) broccoli florets
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Sliced green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
- Add the steak strips in a single layer and sear for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Cook the onion for 2–3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the broccoli florets and cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring frequently. If needed, add 2 tablespoons of water and cover for 1–2 minutes to lightly steam the broccoli.
- Return the steak to the skillet.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the steak and broccoli. Toss everything together and cook for 2–3 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients evenly.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
