Slow Cooker Amish Cube Steak with Brown Gravy
Ingredients
- 2 pounds cube steak
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Prepare the slow cooker:
Lightly grease the slow cooker or spray it with nonstick cooking spray. - Add the onions:
Place the sliced onions in the bottom of the slow cooker. - Layer the cube steak:
Put the cube steak pieces over the onions. - Make the gravy mixture:
In a bowl, whisk together the onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, beef broth, garlic powder, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth. - Pour over the meat:
Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the cube steak. - Cook:
Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or on HIGH for 4–5 hours, until the steak is very tender. - Thicken the gravy (optional):
If you want a thicker gravy, mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth. Stir it into the slow cooker during the last 20–30 minutes of cooking. - Serve:
Spoon the cube steak and brown gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
