Southern 3-Ingredient Sausage Pinwheels
These easy sausage pinwheels are a classic Southern appetizer made with just three ingredients: crescent roll dough, breakfast sausage, and cream cheese. They’re perfect for breakfast, brunch, parties, game day, or a quick snack.
Ingredients
- 1 (8 oz) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or hot)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease and let it cool slightly.
- Mix the cooked sausage with the softened cream cheese until well combined.
- Unroll the crescent dough and press the seams together to form one large rectangle.
- Spread the sausage and cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough.
- Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
- For cleaner slices, chill the log in the refrigerator for about 20–30 minutes.
- Slice into ½-inch rounds and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 13–18 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Tips
- Use spicy sausage for extra heat.
- Add shredded cheddar cheese for a richer flavor.
- These can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
- Leftovers reheat well in the oven or air fryer.
